Advanced Air Lifting Solutions for High-Performance Motorsport

Camozzi pneumatic air lifters, developed with JWA Engineering, provide fast, safe lifting of race cars in workshop and trackside environments, supporting efficient vehicle preparation in high-performance motorsport.

Situation: A Partnership Built on Performance

In motorsport, trust in both technology and partners is critical. For over 20 years, JWA Engineering and Camozzi Automation UK have worked in close partnership, combining motorsport engineering expertise with advanced pneumatic solutions to solve real-world challenges in race car preparation.

JWA Engineering required lifting systems that could deliver speed, safety, and reliability in demanding workshop and trackside environments. From the outset, Camozzi was chosen not simply as a component supplier, but as a technical partner, providing the pneumatic expertise required to support evolving designs and increasingly demanding applications.

This collaborative approach formed the foundation of a relationship that has grown alongside JWA’s motorsport activities.

Solution: Collaborative Development Using Camozzi Pneumatics

The first lifting systems developed by JWA Engineering used Camozzi actuators and control units to create a simple but highly effective race car lift capable of supporting 600kg per lifter. Designed for Formula Renault single-seaters campaigned by JWA in the mid-2000s, the system allowed cars to be raised to working height quickly and safely - delivering immediate efficiency gains.

As JWA’s programme expanded, customer interest in the lifts grew rapidly because Camozzi components had proven their reliability from day one, they remained central to every future design iteration.

Working together, Camozzi Automation UK supported JWA Engineering as the lifting systems evolved:

  • Increasing capacity through more powerful Camozzi cylinders, raising lift capability to 900kg and beyond
  • Supporting the transition from static to mobile lift solutions, enabling cars to be repositioned while elevated
  • Developing a four-lifter, per-wheel configuration with a self-levelling tyre-width adaptation, allowing a single system to accommodate a wide range of vehicles safely and efficiently

Throughout each stage, Camozzi provided not only components including: Series 40K cylinders, Series 3 lever valves, and control solutions - but also the technical insight required to ensure performance, safety, and repeatability across every application.

Result: Proven Solutions Across Global Motorsport

Today, the Camozzi and JWA Engineering partnership has delivered lifting solutions used by an exceptionally broad range of customers, from professional race teams to academic and OEM programmes.

These systems have supported:

  • A two-ton electric vehicle that set a lap record at the Nürburgring Nordschleife
  • A hydrogen-powered prototype developed by the University of Delft for Le Mans
  • Multiple lifting systems for Aston Martin Valkyrie programmes
  • Numerous high-performance race preparation environments across Europe

The lifting capability has increased from 600kg to 1,200kg per unit, while maintaining the safety, reliability, and precision expected in elite motorsport - a direct result of long-term collaboration and shared engineering values.

Latest Chapter: Le Mans Classic

The most recent evolution of the Camozzi pneumatic air lifter has been purpose-built for a 2013 Morgan Pescarolo LMP2, a former World Endurance Championship competitor. The car has been accepted into the prestigious Le Mans Classic Meeting, debuting in 2026!

With only 10 cars in its class selected, the programme provides a high-profile platform for both JWA Engineering and Camozzi Automation UK. It also reflects Camozzi’s proud motorsport heritage and its continued commitment to supporting performance engineering that aligns with the company’s wider presence in global motorsport, including Audi’s return to Formula 1.

Partnership That Delivers

This long-standing collaboration demonstrates how combining Camozzi’s pneumatic expertise with JWA Engineering’s motorsport engineering capability results in solutions that evolve, perform, and endure. More than a product, the Camozzi pneumatic air lifter is the outcome of a partnership built on trust, technical collaboration, and shared ambition.
