Camozzi Automation UK is delighted to congratulate John Newell and NWT Motorsport after an outstanding 2026 season culminated in John being crowned Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship Chrome Champion.
The championship was decided at a dramatic season finale at the Jarama Circuit in Spain, where John secured the Chrome title with an impressive 18-point advantage over defending champion Mark Taylor.
It is a fantastic achievement for John and the entire NWT Motorsport team, and one which reflects three years of hard work, development and determination at the highest level of European truck racing.

Three years of continuous improvement
John's championship success follows three seasons of learning, development and continual improvement for NWT Motorsport.
Rather than standing still, the team has consistently worked to understand the truck, refine its set-up and learn from every race weekend. That approach has delivered increasingly competitive performances and, ultimately, the 2026 Chrome Championship title.
Throughout the season, John has competed at some of Europe's best-known racing circuits, going head-to-head with a highly competitive field as part of the Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship.
The final weekend at Jarama provided a fitting end to the campaign, with a huge Spanish crowd watching as John and the team secured the championship.
Speaking after the result, John said:
“This championship means an incredible amount to everyone at NWT Motorsport. We’ve worked incredibly hard for three years, learning from every race, adapting the truck and improving as a team. To finally come to Jarama and secure the championship in front of such a huge crowd is an amazing feeling.”
He added:
“There have been plenty of highs and lows along the way, but the whole team has kept pushing forward. Winning by 18 points makes all the hard work worthwhile. I’m incredibly proud of everyone involved.”
Proud to support NWT Motorsport

Camozzi Automation UK has been proud to support John Newell and NWT Motorsport throughout the 2026 season, following the team's progress across Europe from the opening rounds through to the championship-deciding finale in Spain.
The partnership brings together two organisations with a shared appreciation for engineering, performance and continuous improvement.
For John, there is also a strong connection between motorsport and the Newell family's long history within the transport industry. NWT Motorsport is part of the wider Newell & Wright Transport family in Sheffield, providing a natural foundation for a racing programme centred around some of the most powerful competition vehicles in motorsport.
Everyone at Camozzi Automation UK would like to congratulate John, the NWT Motorsport team and everyone involved behind the scenes on an exceptional achievement.
Next stop: the FIA Awards

The celebrations will continue when John travels to Shanghai, China, to attend the FIA Awards alongside some of the world's leading motorsport competitors and personalities.
It will provide another opportunity to recognise a memorable season and the work undertaken by everyone at NWT Motorsport to reach this milestone.
Attention will then quickly turn towards 2027.
Following his Chrome Championship victory, John will step up into the Titan category next season, where NWT Motorsport will take on a new challenge against some of European truck racing's most experienced competitors.
After three years of progress have delivered a first major championship title, the next chapter is already on the horizon.
Congratulations, John and NWT Motorsport – 2026 Chrome Champions!
